The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is holding the SSC CGL exam 2018 for the recruitment of Assistant Section Officer, Assistant Audit Officer, Divisional Accountant, Assistant Accounts Officer, Assistants Inspector Assistant/Superintendent Inspector (Central Excise), Sub-Inspector, Inspector (Preventive Officer), Inspector (Examiner), Assistant Enforcement Officer, Inspector of Posts, Jr. Statistical Officer, Auditor, Accountant/Jr Accountant, Sr. Secretariat Assistant, Tax Assistant. SSC CGL Exam Pattern 2018

The SSC CGL Exam 2018 will be conducted in four tiers as given below :

  1. The SSC CGL Exam 2018 Tier I: Objective Multiple Choice Type (Online)
  2. The SSC CGL Exam 2018 Tier II: Objective Multiple Choice Type (Online)
  3. The SSC CGL Exam 2018 III: Descriptive Paper in Hindi/English ( Pen and paper mode)
  4. The SSC CGL Exam 2018 IV: Skill Test/Computer Proficiency Test (Whichever Applicable )

Final merit list for the SSC CGL Exam 2018 will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained by the candidates in Tier I, II, III and IV exams.

Note: Interviews have been discontinued from year 2016 onwards.

SSC CGL 2018 Tier II Exam Syllabus

The Mains Exam will be conducted online and is an objective multiple choice exam. The major sections asked in Mains Exam are Quantitative Aptitude, English Language and Comprehension, Statistics, General Studies (Finance and Economics). SSC CGL 2018 Tier III Examination: Pen and paper mode

The Commission has also decided to introduce a Descriptive Paper (writing of Essay/Precis/Letter /Application Writing etc) of English/Hindi as Tier-III. The Question Paper will be bilingual. The candidates will have the option to choose any one medium. This will be in Pen & paper Mode.

The maximum marks for this section (Tier III) is 100 and the duration is 60 minutes.

SSC CGL 2018 Tier IV Examination

  1. DEST (Data Entry Speed Test): FOR THE ALL POST (Other than compiler): The "Data Entry Speed" Skill Test at 2000 (two thousand) key depressions for a duration of 15 (fifteen) minutes will be of qualifying nature.
  2. CPT (Computer Proficiency Test): The Commission will hold CPT, comprising three modules - Word Processing, Spread Sheet and Generation of Slides, for applicants for the post of Assistants of CSS. CPT will be of a qualifying nature.

SSC CHSL Syllabus & Exam Pattern 2018

To score well in SSC CHSL 2018 exam, all candidates must be aware about the SSC CHSL syllabus and exam pattern. It is very important to understand the structure of the exam and the syllabus that needs to be prepared.

SSC CHSL Exam Pattern 2018

There are three different levels in SSC CHSL exam that have to be cleared by candidates to get selected for various posts in the Government Offices. SSC CHSL Tier I is Objective Multiple Choice Question, Tier II exam is Descriptive Paper in English/Hindi, while Tier III is the Computer Proficiency Test.

SSC CHSL Tier-II Exam Pattern

SSC CHSL Tier-II is a descriptive test that is designed to test the written skills of the candidates in English/Hindi. The paper would demand writing of an Essay of 200-250 words and Letter/Application writing of approximately 150-200 words. The minimum qualifying marks in Tier-II would be 33 per cent.

  • The exam is of 60 minutes’ duration and carries 100 marks.
  • The questions are based on 10th level.
  • The exam is qualifying in nature.
  • The exam duration is 80 minutes for candidates who are visually handicapped or suffer from cerebral palsy.

SSC CHSL Tier-III Exam Pattern

The Tier 3 of SSC CGL Exam 2018 comprises of a couple of skill tests which are required for certain government posts.

SSC CHSL Tier II Syllabus:

As mentioned above, this paper requires candidates to write an essay and Letter/Application that tests the writing skills of the candidates. The essay topics will be related to National Interest, Finance & Economy, Ecological Issues, Social Issues, Politics, Schemes & Governance, Technology, Sports, Geopolitics, Environmental Concerns etc. While, the type of letter/ application asked will be Complaint, Suggestion, Application, Official Appreciation, Follow up or Feedback etc.

SSC CHSL Tier III Syllabus

Tier-III of SSC CHSL 2018 will be a Skill/ Typing Test which would be of a qualifying nature. The final merit of the selected candidates will be based on the basis of total score obtained in Tier-I and Tier-II.

Skill test for Data Entry Operator:

In this test, a candidate must have data entry speed of 8,000 (eight thousand) Key Depressions per hour.

Duration of the Test will be 15 minutes and English document having about 2000-2200 strokes/key-depressions would be given to type.
